Banking & Finance: Silja Line deal description

Nordea Bank Finland Plc acted as the main financier in the acquisition of Silja Oy Ab from Sea Containers Ltd by Tallink. The financing was carried out by re-financing the existing indebtness of Silja Oy Ab. The existing vessels serve as the main security for the loan as well as the shares in Silja Oy Ab. The security package also contained many instruments typical to ship finance, such as different assignment agreements. Additionally B&K issued a legal opinion of the transaction.

B&K advised Nordea Bank in preparing of Finnish security documents and co-ordinating of the same in Sweden.

The total deal value was EUR 450 million.
