Borenius advises Evli on investment in large-scale battery energy storage system

Our Projects & Construction and Energy & Infrastructure teams advised Evli Renewable Energy Infrastructure Fund II on the development of a 40 MW battery storage and the majority sale of the project to Helen Oy.

The storage facility to be built in Nurmijärvi is expected to be operational in early 2025. The project is one of the first large-scale electricity storage systems in Finland, with a potential extension planned to double its initial capacity.

Evli’s investment will advance the green transition of society, balance electricity price fluctuations, and secure the operational reliability of the electricity system. Borenius will continue to support Evli with project contracts, and Evli will remain a co-investor with Helen, a leading Finnish energy company, during the construction and operation of the battery.
