Borenius has been selected to conduct an international comparative study on debt-to-equity conversion

Our Restructuring & Insolvency practice has been awarded an appropriation of EUR 120,000 to conduct an international comparative study on debt-to-equity conversion in companies with financial difficulties. The public authority overseeing the project cited our extremely experienced team, led by Jyrki Tähtinen and Robert Peldán, and the comprehensive project plan, which took into account the great societal impact of the topic, as deciding factors for choosing our tender. The report is part of the implementation of the 2017 Government plan for analysis, assessment and research.

Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland and the Netherlands were chosen as the countries of comparison for the purposes of the study. The study will be carried out in co-operation with international law firms Baker McKenzie and Bech-Bruun.

It is estimated that the final report based on the study will be completed in December 2017. Five other applicants submitted their tenders in addition to Borenius.
