Borenius Defended Arwidson Against Atoy in Cartel Damage Proceedings

We successfully represented Arwidson in a trial in which Arwidson, together with four other companies, was the defendant to proceedings regarding the compensation for damages in a case related to a car spare parts cartel. A company called Atoy was the claimant presenting the claims for damages against Arwidson.

Helsinki District Court issued its judgment on this matter on 31 March 2014. According to the District Court’s judgment, Atoy’s claims against Arwidson were dismissed in their entirety and Atoy were obliged to compensate a significant share of Arwidson’s legal costs.

We have represented Arwidson in connection with this cartel matter at the Finnish Competition Authority, Market Court, and Supreme Administrative Court. Arwidson was released from a cartel fine by cooperating with the current Finnish Competition Authority and by defending its leniency in the Market Court and in the Supreme Administrative Court.

The judgment issued by the District Court is not legally valid and it may be appealed to Helsinki Court of Appeal.
