Finland’s 99th Independence Day Celebration

On December 6, 2016, Borenius and Amcham Finland arranged a reception at Borenius’ new mid-town office at 350 Park Avenue to celebrate Finland’s 99th year of independence.

After welcoming remarks from Borenius, Amcham Finland and Veijo Kumulainen, the Counsellor of Trade in the Consulate General of Finland in New York, guests ranging from US law firms, international representative law offices and Finnish small and large companies celebrated the occasion with traditional Finnish hors d’oeuvres, such as reindeer topped crackers and rice-filled rye bread pastries called Karelian pies. Food and drinks were accompanied by rolling slides on the surrounding screens that provided historical and traditional notes regarding Finland’s independence and its celebration, along with typical Finnish imagery.
