Hidden Heroes – Borenius Acquires New Art from the Finnish Paralympic Committee’s Charity Auction

The Finnish Paralympic Committee held an online auction in order to sell ten photographic works featured in photographer Johanna Kare’s Hidden Heroes exhibition. Borenius participated in the auction and acquired five of the works.

“Borenius and the Finnish Paralympic Committee will celebrate their 10th anniversary of partnership next year. Therefore, in particular, it’s wonderful that five out of ten of these athlete photographs will now continue their story in our main partner’s premises. The auction was a thrilling event for a good cause,” says Timo Mäkynen, Partnership Manager of the Finnish Paralympic Committee.

The auction was followed by the Paralympic Gala held on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which was celebrated on 3 December.

“We will display the photographs on our office in Helsinki where they can be seen by our personnel, clients, and partners. These photographs convey the emotions that we share in our long-term partnership – achieving shared objectives with an effort of will and determination without forgetting individual strength. We would like to thank the photographer and the photographed athletes for these amazing pieces of art,” says Borenius’ Marketing & Communications Director Liisa Laitinen.

HIDDEN HEROES was exhibited from 2021 to 2022, and it highlighted ten athletes with disabilities and their stories. The exhibition was produced in cooperation with the Finnish Paralympic Committee, and its patron was the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö. HIDDEN HEROES was part of the KATSO IHMINEN® (BEHOLD THE MAN) concept. The funds received from the photographic works sold at the auction will be allocated to the Paralympic Fund.
