Borenius successfully advised the Finnish ice-hockey league in relation to an alleged breach of competition law

We advised the Finnish ice-hockey-league company (SM-liiga Oy) in relation to an investigation by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA). The FCCA initiated its investigation in spring 2012 after SM-liiga Oy sold its broadcasting rights almost exclusively to Sanoma for a period of five years. The FCCA and a competing broadcaster viewed that such exclusivity could infringe effective competition in the pay-TV wholesale market. The FCCA terminated its investigation in autumn 2015 by confirming that SM-liiga Oy had not violated antitrust law.
