Frequently Asked Questions
Our FAQ section answers some of the most frequently asked questions we receive each year from students and job applicants.
What makes for a good application?
A good application is carefully drafted, clear and concise. Your application letter should be no longer than one page, and it should give us a clear indication of what motivates you and whether you are suited for the open position. Please remember to enclose a well-structured CV, any appendices we may require (e.g. a transcript of your studies) and any other additional materials (a video perhaps).
What kind of training will Borenius provide for the employees?
Through our Borenius Learning programme, we organise approximately 30 internal training sessions annually, delivered by both our internal practice teams and external trainers. Whilst some of these are held as live sessions, the majority are recorded and made available in our video library.
What is the office like? Does everyone have their own room?
Most have their own office space or share a room with one to three colleagues. We maintain excellent meeting rooms e.g. for hosting client meetings, and we make use of the latest technology.

Why do you recruit so many students?
The purpose of our trainee programmes is to get to know students and to provide them with the opportunity to create connections that are crucial for their future careers. For this purpose, we seek to create long-term relationships with students and to provide them with the best professional development and leadership opportunities. Our mission is also to help our trainees grow into the lawyers of tomorrow and to discover excellent future talent to add to our practice teams.
How long are your trainee programmes?
Our Junior and KM Trainees are offered a contract that lasts for approximately 12 months. Our R&I Trainees are also offered a contract for 12 months, but we value R&I Trainees who are willing to work for a longer time period. Our Associate Trainee programmes last for six months.
What are the trainee teams like at Borenius?
At Borenius, we have several trainee teams with supportive atmospheres. Our Junior Trainee team consists of nine law students. The KM team includes a KM Specialist and a Knowledge Manager, alongside four trainees. As an Associate Trainee and R&I Trainee, you work within a specific legal team with lawyers.
