Borenius Shortlisted in Two Categories for the IFLR Europe Awards 2020
We are excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for the IFLR Europe Awards in two distinctive categories – the Most Innovative National Firm of the Year for Finland and the Deal of the Year in the Loan category.
Last year, we were honoured to receive the award for the Most Innovative National Firm of the Year for Finland. We have continued to take bold steps in order to further strengthen our cross-border capabilities. At the beginning of January, we opened a representative office in the City of London. This makes us the only large Finnish law firm to have an office in London, which is the key feeder market for us outside of Finland. The opening of our London representative office was encouraged by the success of our New York representative office, which we opened in 2012. As a leading independent Finnish law firm, an international network with close ties to other independent leading law firms in the most important financial centres (London and New York) is a key to our capability to serve our clients on demanding cross-border deals.
This year, we are also shortlisted in the Deal of the Year, Loan category for a transaction where we represented Nordea Bank Abp as the arranger of backup and term loan facilities of EUR 1.55 billion for Metso in connection with the combination of Metso Minerals and Outotec. The purpose of this combination was to create a leading company in process technology, equipment and services that would serve the minerals, metals and aggregates industries. During the Metso-Outotec combination, we also represented Nordea as a financial advisor and advised various lenders on revolving credit facilities.
The award we received last year and these shortlistings are a recognition of our capabilities in not only handling the most demanding cases for eminent industry leaders but also of our drive to provide our clients with the best advice and innovative cross-border solutions.
The 2020 IFLR awards celebrate legal innovation in cross-border transactions that were closed in 2019 and recognise the teams and firms that were behind them. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will be held in London on 23 April.
