Borenius to Partially Offset Its CO2 Footprint for 2022

The calculation results have shown that our total carbon footprint for 2022 was 628 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (t CO2e). The largest source of emissions was purchased products and services, which accounted for approximately 66% of the total emissions. Business travel was the second-largest category, contributing 24% to the total carbon footprint.

The carbon footprint calculation was conducted by Nordic Offset, a leading provider of carbon management services. The calculation was based on the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol calculation guidelines, ensuring a systematic and accurate assessment of our emissions.

We have decided to offset our emissions in full for Scope 1 and 2, and partially for Scope 3 (events), equalling 48 t CO2e. Please find below the contents of these different scopes:

  • Scope 1 (direct GHG emissions, such as properties and vehicles),
  • Scope 2 (indirect GHG emissions from purchased electricity, heating, and cooling), and
  • Scope 3 (indirect emissions from purchased products and services, covering the entire value chain).

We will use the same company for offsetting as the one who conducted the actual calculations. Therefore, Nordic Offset will procure and offset our emissions by using Gold Standard certified VER emission reductions (in total of 48 carbon dioxide equivalent tons (CO2e)) for a solar energy project in India (Gold Standard ID 7071 Solar Energy Project, India).
