Borenius Committed to Youth and Children Through Pro Bono Partnerships

As a part of our values, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on society through our pro bono partnerships. One of our key roles is to empower young people and children, driving positive change to ensure a brighter future for the next generation. By providing legal expertise, mentorship, and resources, we help our partner organisations in expanding opportunities for young individuals in order to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

A clear focus on youth and children

Our current pro bono partners are the Finnish Paralympic Committee, the Helsinki Pride Community, Icehearts, Young Office, and Oikismentorointiohjelma ry – all of which also focus on creating better opportunities for youth and children within our society.

Since 2013, we have collaborated with the Finnish Paralympic Committee, which works with top athletes as well as kids of all ages with disabilities, supporting sports activities and addressing challenges such as the lack of suitable groups, friends, and assistants. These initiatives not only promote physical activity but also help young individuals achieve their personal best and build confidence.

Another long-term partner is the Helsinki Pride Community, with whom we are currently a Working with Pride partner. Our involvement with Pride reflects our values and our dedication to creating a more equal society. As one of the community’s legal advisors, we provide essential legal support that helps promote the rights, equality, and equal treatment of the Finnish LGBTIQ community – whether for children, families or individuals.

We also collaborate with Icehearts, an innovative early-intervention operating model that provides long-term professional support for vulnerable children facing the risk of social exclusion. The children in this project are divided into teams that operate for a period of 12 years, during which they gain support and supervision from professional educators. Additionally, we work with Young Office, fostering connections between young people and the business world. This multicultural work experience programme is aimed at pupils in lower secondary schools, providing them with valuable insights and opportunities.

Furthermore, our partnership with Oikismentorointiohjelma ry encourages secondary school students with parents that have no academic background to apply to law school through a mutually beneficial virtual mentoring programme. This initiative is crucial in increasing diversity among future lawyers by establishing equal opportunities for education.

Puzzle pieces.

The importance of our partnerships

Our pro bono partnerships play a great role in driving positive change and addressing significant societal issues. By collaborating with organisations that focus on youth, children, and diversity, we leverage our legal expertise to make a meaningful impact. We are happy to hear that these collaborations have empowered individuals to access opportunities they might otherwise miss.
