Managing Partner Johan Roman: Reflecting on the First Year in the Lead of the Firm
Earlier this week, we sat down with our Managing Partner Johan Roman to reflect on his first twelve months in the new role. Since taking the lead last year, Johan has continued to navigate the firm through the legal landscape while maintaining his active role in M&A advisory. His approach to leadership and commitment to the firm's growth mindset have already made an impact.
Below, Johan shares his experiences and insights from his first year as Managing Partner.
How has the first year as Managing Partner been?
“Thanks for asking, it has been great. People often ask if there have been some surprises, but honestly, not really. We as a firm have had a good year and at times like these, it’s also easy to lead the firm. Of course, in any business, there are always some challenges, but I feel that overall, the year has been really good. In addition, it has been fun!”
What have you learned?
"Good question. If you take action and do things in a little different way than usual, although you don't see consequences of these actions immediately, you still can notice relatively quickly the concrete impact your actions have had, also in a professional services firm like ours. The short-term impact that can be achieved is actually bigger than I had imagined."
Alongside your work as Managing Partner, you advise our clients on various M&A transactions. How do you describe the current market?
"Our firm has been growing more than the market and our M&A team has been fairly busy overall. I guess everyone has been waiting for the activity to pick up, but the M&A market in particular now shows some promising signs of activity. We are looking forward to an active H2."
What else are you looking forward to during H2?
"To further build on the things we have done well during the past 12 months. I believe that with our energetic growth mindset we can always develop as a firm and I'm looking forward to what the future has in store for us."
"Actually yes, in this new role I have broadened my knowledge and gained more insights into the talented people we employ overall. For example, by working closer with our business services, I have a better understanding of their significant impact on our business."
