About Matti

Matti is a dedicated dispute resolution lawyer advising clients in complex commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters. He represents clients before Finnish courts and in domestic and international arbitration, regularly acting in high-value and cross-border disputes.

Matti has experience across the full spectrum of commercial dispute resolution, from domestic and international arbitration, including proceedings under the FAI Rules, to commercial and contractual disputes, post-M&A claims, and directors’ and management liability matters. He acts for clients in white-collar crime proceedings and related criminal investigations, insolvency-related disputes, and construction and project disputes governed by FIDIC, YSE and KSE terms. His work spans multiple sectors, including energy and infrastructure, industrial and manufacturing, construction and projects, and the defence industry.

Matti joined Borenius as an Associate in 2022, having previously trained in the firm’s dispute resolution team. During his studies, he gained further experience as a trainee at another Finnish law firm and in moot court competitions.

Matti has co-published on the regulation of public law environmental liabilities in insolvency situations, contributing to the JUVAKOVE project, a government-funded comparative study on regulatory models conducted in collaboration with the Finnish Environment Institute and the University of Helsinki.
