Rilla Ojala

Rilla advises clients on domestic and international commercial dispute resolution. She regularly represents clients in arbitration proceedings and before Finnish general courts, and has experience in mediation. Her practice spans a broad range of complex matters, including energy sector disputes (particularly in electricity and wind power), insurance disputes, construction disputes, post-M&A disputes, and environmental disputes.

Beyond contentious work, Rilla provides strategic advice to clients at the pre-dispute stage, helping to manage and mitigate legal risk before conflicts escalate. She also has experience in investigations and corporate (white-collar) crime matters.

In the latter half of 2023, Rilla was seconded to Nordkalk Corporation, a Northern European mining company, where she managed disputes, negotiated commercial contracts, and gained valuable in-house experience from the client’s perspective, with a particular focus on environmental and safety matters in mining operations.

Rilla has served as a board member (Co-chair) and Treasurer of the Young Arbitration Club Finland since 2024.

She has also delivered lectures at university level and spoken at multiple international conferences and events.

Rilla joined Borenius as an Associate in 2020, having previously worked as a trainee at the firm. She holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Turku and studied law at Pompeu Fabra University in Spain.
