Open Application Students
Launch your legal career and gain hands-on experience at a leading Finnish law firm. At Borenius, you'll work with talented, dedicated colleagues in a supportive environment that values your development. Our collaborative culture means you'll have the guidance, encouragement, and mentorship you need to develop your expertise.
Each year, we welcome up to fifty students at various stages of their studies and actively engage with student organisations through events and office visits. Learn more about our Trainee programmes below.
Associate Trainees
Our Associate Trainee programme is designed for law students who are finalising their studies. It's a full-time, six-month position where you can focus on a particular field of law that interests you most, working as a part of the team in that practice area.
As an Associate Trainee, you'll take on similar tasks as recently graduated Associates (e.g. drafting documents, translation and research tasks) and contribute to various client assignments under the guidance of experienced colleagues. You'll also participate in all our professional training events and firm activities, helping you develop your skills and grow as a professional.
We recruit new Associate Trainees twice a year, but you're always welcome to send us an open application.
Knowledge Management Trainees
Our KM Trainee programme is ideal for third or fourth-year law students with a minimum of 160 study credits. It's a part-time position where you'll work 2–3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to continue your studies whilst gaining practical experience.
As a KM Trainee, you'll assist our lawyers with legal research, knowledge management tasks, and library administration. You'll work across different practice areas, giving you a broad view of the Finnish legal system and helping you develop strong legal research skills. This exposure to various fields of law can be invaluable in figuring out your future career path.
Applications are welcome throughout the year.
R&I Trainees
Our R&I Trainee programme is ideal for second- or third-year law students. It's a part-time position where you'll work 1–3 days per week and full-time during the summer, giving you the flexibility to continue your studies whilst gaining practical experience. We value students who are willing to commit to the position for a longer period.
As an R&I Trainee, you'll work as part of our R&I practice and assist the team's lawyers in a wide range of bankruptcy, restructuring and other insolvency assignments. You'll be actively involved in the proceedings from start to finish, supported by the team's experienced lawyers. This hands-on experience will help you develop a deep understanding of insolvency law and can be invaluable in shaping your future career path.
Applications are welcome throughout the year.
Junior Trainees
Our Junior Trainee programme is designed for law students at the early stage of their studies, typically first or second-year students. It's a part-time position where you'll work 1–3 days per week, giving you a great opportunity to see how a law firm operates whilst building your professional network early in your career.
As a Junior Trainee, you'll support our daily office operations with tasks ranging from reception support and courier services to event assistance and various administrative duties. You'll be part of a team of enthusiastic students with a supportive atmosphere, where more experienced trainees are always eager to welcome and help newcomers settle in.
Applications are welcome throughout the year.
Business Services Trainees
You don't need to be a lawyer to build a career with us. Our business services teams are full of talented professionals, many of whom began their journey at Borenius as trainees. Our traineeships typically run for 6–12 months and can be tailored to fit your circumstances. Most positions are in HR, client relations, ICT, or finance, but we're open to discussing other areas that interest you. These programmes offer valuable legal business experience and help you build professional connections that will benefit your future career.
Applications are welcome throughout the year.
