Borenius advised Neoen on tax credits for new power reserve projects

We advised Neoen on securing tax credits for large clean transition investments provided by Business Finland for new battery storage projects in Finland.

Akkula Big Battery in Rauma is the first of these projects to be announced. It is one of Finland’s largest battery storage facilities and its first 4-hour battery. The project will provide significant support to the Finnish grid, operating in both the wholesale market and Fingrid’s reserve markets.

This is Neoen’s third battery in Finland, bringing the company’s total storage capacity in the country to 149 MW / 374 MWh. Akkula Big Battery is expected to be fully operational in 2027.

The tax credits support substantial investments in clean technology and accelerate Finland’s transition towards carbon neutrality.
