Borenius advised OX2 on the acquisition of the largest wind power project in Finland from YIT

We advised OX2 on the acquisition of the Lestijärvi wind farm development project from YIT. This project, located in the Lestijärvi municipality in Central Ostrobothnia, is the largest wind power project in Finland with project rights to 72 wind turbines.

The total capacity of the Lestijärvi wind farm will be approximately 400 MW, and the maximum total height of the turbines will be 240 metres. The wind farm will be constructed without government subsidies, and construction of the wind farm is due to start within a year.

Once commissioned, the annual energy production of the Lestijärvi wind farm will be approximately 1.4 TWh, which corresponds to approximately two per cent of the total electricity production in Finland. In addition to the 72 wind turbines, the project includes the construction of a new electricity substation and 55 kilometres of 400 kV power line from Lestijärvi to Alajärvi for electricity transmission.

OX2 develops, builds and manages renewable power generation. OX2 has taken a leading position in large-scale onshore wind power over the past 15 years, having developed and constructed more than 2.4 GW of wind power in Europe. OX2 currently retains management contracts for 40 wind farms (2.15 GW), and generated EUR 463 million in sales revenue in 2019. OX2’s mission is to lead the ongoing energy transition and to promote a more sustainable future. OX2 has operations in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Lithuania and France. Its head office is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
