This recognition culminated in our highly commendable mention by the Lawyer European Awards in the category of Law Firm of the Year – Northern Europe.

This year, we powered up our team of experts, bringing in two new Partners, appointing two Counsel , a Client Relations Director, and launching a completely new service area.

As we reflect on this year, the additions of Emma, Kiira, Janko, Benjamin and Johanna stand out as key milestones, highlighting our adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our clients.

London presence – Celebrating three years at the heart of the City

Our London representative office, situated in the beautiful Paternoster House just next to the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral, proudly reached its third-year milestone this year. Nestled in this central location, we continue to cherish the proximity to our clients and key relationships, allowing us to operate on the ground where significant business activities unfold.

With our London office we strive to bridge global and Finnish interests by promoting transactional activities between Finland and a diverse network of banks, clients and world-leading law firms based in London. In addition, we proudly hold the position of the law firm patron member with the Finnish-British Chamber of Commerce (FBCC).

Borenius stands as the sole large Finnish law firm with a dedicated presence and office in London. We see London as a key market for us outside of Finland.

New York – Over a decade in the heat of Manhattan

Our New York representative office opened for business in 2012 and celebrated its 11th anniversary this year. We have been ideally positioned in the beating heart of NYC since the very beginning, and our relocation to the iconic Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan in 2022 brought us even closer to where many of our clients and key relationships are located.

With over a decade’s presence in the leading financial hub of the corporate world, we are able to serve our clients with an encompassing global approach that covers not only Finnish companies looking to enter US and global markets, but also companies looking to invest and do business in Finland. Borenius is the only large Finnish law firm to have an office in New York.

This year, the New York office had a busy social calendar with various client events, for example, our traditional cocktail event in June and the Finnish Independence Day party in December. More, Columbia Law School Professor Anu Bradford gave a keynote speech at one of our events about her newest book Digital Empires.

At Borenius, we recognise the importance of incorporating sustainability and green values into our core strategy. Our goal is not only to excel in legal expertise but also foster a greener and more tolerant future.

Our role as a strategic advisor to clients extends beyond legal counsel, encompassing key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations. We take pride in being at the forefront of ESG-related assignments and trainings, guiding our clients towards responsible and sustainable business practices.

Internally, we understand the significance of making a positive environmental impact both in our client work and our day-to-day operations. In line with our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, we concentrate our efforts on energy conservation and recycling initiatives. These steps underscore our genuine commitment to a sustainable future and align with our mission to contribute to a healthier environment.

Holiday spirit through charity and pro bono work

This holiday season, our charitable contributions will extend to Folkhälsan’s Lucia campaign and to the Maailman arvokkain pelipaita – The world's most valuable jersey fund-collecting campaign organised by one of our esteemed pro bono partners, the Finnish Paralympic Committee.

The Lucia campaign is dedicated to raising funds for individuals facing various challenges in their daily lives, ensuring they receive the essential support they require. Simultaneously, our support for the Finnish Paralympic Committee’s campaign aims to guarantee that that para-athletes maintain access to the necessary resources.
