Borenius’ Summer Greetings

Dear Clients and Friends

My first year as Managing Partner has come to an end, and what a great ride it has been!

During these twelve months, we have seen positive developments across our practice areas. As a firm, Borenius has been growing more than the market, with our teams staying busy serving clients across various sectors. The transaction market shows promising signs of activity, and we are looking forward to an active second half of the year.

In my leadership role, I advise our clients on M&A projects whilst overseeing the firm's operations. This dual perspective has provided valuable insights into our talented teams across all business services and their significant impact on our success.

With our energetic growth mindset, we believe we can always develop as a firm, and we're excited to further build on the strong momentum we have established during the past year.

Thank you all for trusting the Borenius team in advising you. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with you.

I wish you all a wonderful summer!

Johan Roman
Managing Partner

Borenius CCD Brought Together Finland’s Legal Leaders

The Borenius Corporate Counsel Day (CCD), an annual event for in-house lawyers in Finland, took place last March and featured insightful discussions and expert perspectives. We welcomed excellent speakers and explored two distinct yet timely topics, offering fresh viewpoints for legal professionals.

In the first panel discussion, we considered the state of the rule of law. The rule of law is a given until it no longer is. What kind of care do the rule of law and democracy require, and what phenomena challenge these fundamental pillars of our society?

In our second panel discussion, “How to Prepare for the Unexpected”, we featured general counsel and legal leaders. Our panellists offered valuable insights and shared their experiences and best practices in effectively preparing for and managing critical and unforeseen circumstances in the roles of general counsel and team leader.

Nordic Defence Night in New York

Interest in the defence sector among growth companies is on the rise. At Borenius, we are actively supporting this momentum. Earlier this month, we co-hosted the Nordic Defence Night in New York together with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and ReOrbit. The event aimed to strengthen the connections between Finnish growth companies and the U.S. market.

The defence industry has its own unique characteristics, requiring specialised knowledge from investors as well. In the U.S., investors are experienced in working with defence-focused growth companies and are increasingly interested in Europe’s rapidly expanding defence sector. This made Nordic Defence Night a point of interest both in Finland and among US investors.

Summer Kick-Off in London

We officially welcomed the summer season in London this May with our Summer Kick-Off event for young professionals. The evening brought together over 150 guests for a celebration of networking, collaboration, and new connections in the heart of the city.

It was a pleasure to share the evening with many familiar faces, such as friends and colleagues our lawyers have connected with during their time in London as part of our rotation programme, which offers our lawyers the opportunity to gain international experience and broaden their professional development.

Events like this are a great way to strengthen our growing network in London and beyond.

Committed to Youth and Children Through Pro Bono Partnerships

As a part of our values, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on society through our pro bono partnerships. One of our key roles is to empower young people and children, driving positive change to ensure a brighter future for the next generation. By providing legal expertise, mentorship, and resources, we help our partner organisations in expanding opportunities for young individuals in order to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

Borenius' Team Continues to Grow

We have welcomed several new members this year who bring fresh perspectives and strengthen our collective expertise.

One of the most recent additions is Anne-Mari Saarensilta, who joined us earlier this month as our new Chief Human Resources Officer.

“My first weeks have been both inspiring and smooth, thanks to the excellent preparation and support I’ve received. I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting many new colleagues across various situations, and every interaction has reflected the welcoming, energetic, and collaborative culture I’m excited to be part of. In my role, I look forward to supporting our people’s success and ensuring the seamless operation of our people processes”, says Anne-Mari.

We also welcomed Eino Järnroos on our M&A team as a Senior Associate in February. Eino focuses on M&A, private equity and capital market transactions, while also strengthening our New York team.

“I have hit the ground running in several transactions, including a US M&A deal that signed in early June. The breadth of competence across all the firm’s practice groups is impressive and I am glad to have the chance to cooperate with my new and talented colleagues in larger projects”, says Eino.

As we enter the second half of 2025, we remain focused on the path ahead and appreciate your trust and collaboration.
