Borenius Shortlisted for Three Awards at the IFLR Europe Awards 2021

We are excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for three awards in two distinct categories at the IFLR Europe Awards. In addition to being shortlisted for the National Firm of the Year for Finland award, we have been shortlisted in two categories for the Deal of the Year. These categories are restructuring and structured finance and securitisation.

The Stockmann case

The shortlisting we have received for the Deal of the Year in the restructuring category is a recognition of our Restructuring & Insolvency team’s tireless work on the Stockmann case. Stockmann Oyj Abp is a major fashion and home goods retailer listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange that owns iconic department stores in Finland, Estonia and Latvia in addition to Lindex with approximately 460 fashion stores globally.

Senior Partner Jyrki Tähtinen acted as the administrator in Stockmann’s restructuring. The restructuring programme our team drafted for the well-established fashion retailer includes several innovative features, and it will allow Stockmann to access the market for refinancing and exit the restructuring plan prematurely if its business succeeds.

The IFLR recognises ground-breaking transactions

The 2021 IFLR shortlist reflects hard work and ingenuity, seeking to showcase transactions that broke new legal ground and set new legal high-water marks in their respective regions. Winners will be announced via a virtual awards presentation that will be held on 29 April.
