Recent regulatory & internal investigations and employment references
We have recently assisted many of our clients in conducting internal investigations relating to alleged inappropriate treatment of employees.
- In a global well-known chemical company, the investigation commenced when a former employee raised concerns about the behaviour and psychological working conditions within their former team. Even though the matter was raised by a former employee and the employer had not received information about a particular individual who might have specifically faced inappropriate treatment, the employer still had an obligation to investigate the matter.
- A client instructed us to carry out the internal investigation as an external investigator. We assisted in preparing an investigation plan and conducting interviews. During the investigation, it became clear that the concerns regarding the team stemmed from interpersonal dynamics between team members, meaning that we had to extend the scope of our investigation. After the investigation was completed, we prepared a final report with recommendations for action, including necessary individual measures together with steps to improve the working conditions within the team.
- In a global well-known medtech company, the investigation began when an employee reported that they had faced inappropriate and unequal treatment from another employee, which had caused them a psychosocial burden harmful to their health. We were instructed to conduct the internal investigation as an external investigator. We assisted the client in preparing an investigation plan, conducting interviews and producing a final report with recommendations for action. We also advised the client on implementing the recommended measures.
- In a Finnish registered association, the investigation commenced when an employee reported that they were experiencing psychosocial stress and inappropriate treatment from their supervisor, which posed a risk to their health and safety. We were instructed to carry out the internal investigation as an external investigator. We assisted the client in preparing an investigation plan, conducting interviews and producing a final report with recommendations for action. We also advised the client on implementing the recommended measures.
