Borenius advises Gi21 Capital on its data centre project in Janakkala, Finland

We are advising Gi21 Capital, a European investment company specialising in the development, construction, and operation of data centre infrastructure across Europe, in the development of its data centre project in Janakkala, Finland. The project is being developed in collaboration with Winda Energy Oy, a developer of renewable energy projects.

The planned capacity of the data centre is approximately 100 MW, with an estimated investment exceeding half a billion euros.

The project is expected to bring economic benefits to the region. During construction, the data centre is expected to employ hundreds of people, whilst ongoing operations would create approximately 30–40 permanent positions for local experts.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the project targeted for completion in 2028. A 22-hectare site has been reserved in the Rastikangas industrial zone.

Gi21 is a European investment company headquartered in the Czech Republic. With 20 years of experience in data centers, cloud platforms, and hosting services, the company is involved in the entire project lifecycle – from planning and construction to operation. Gi21 is also active in early-stage AI startup investments.

Winda Energy Oy is a responsible renewable energy project developer founded in 2011. The company manages wind, solar, and energy storage projects across Finland, overseeing them from initial planning to completion. Its core values include active local dialogue and professional development and design work.
