About Emma

Emma and her team advise our clients on construction and project law assignments. With more than 15 years of experience, Emma is recognized as a leading name for construction law in Finland and is consistently ranked top of her field in international legal directories. Her team handles some of the most significant investment projects in the market, providing one-stop advice from project conception to completion.

Emma focuses particularly on major industrial and infrastructure investments, stand-alone construction and engineering mandates, as well as prominent real estate development projects. Most recently, Emma and her team have been active especially in an increasing number of multi-billion euro data centre projects, as well as an array of green transition investments both by local blue chip corporations and international players.

Emma has robust experience in negotiating and drafting complex project agreements, and her input is typically crucial in helping project stakeholders establish a balanced and bankable contract framework – be it an EPC(M) or disaggregated procurement model. She is skilled at tailoring bespoke agreements, and masters both international standard forms of contracts (FIDIC, NLM, NL, Orgalime) as well as Finnish general conditions for building contracts (YSE 1998) and consultancy agreements (KSE 2013).

A large part of Emma’s work consists of providing risk and claims management advice during critical project phases of our clients’ strategic investments. She benefits from her unique technical background in her advisory role; with a Master of Science degree in Construction Economics and Management from the Helsinki University of Technology, she draws from her deep understanding of project management and is often commended for her proactive, solution-oriented approach in keeping a strong handle on contract risks in demanding projects.

On contentious mandates Emma represents clients in litigation and arbitration proceedings, and also acts as arbitrator in construction and supply contract disputes.

Emma has also authored books on construction management contracting and contractors’ guarantee liabilities and is a sought-after speaker on topics related to construction law and dispute management.

Emma heads the firm’s Projects & Construction team.
