Senior Associate
I joined Borenius for the first time in the autumn of 2018 as an Associate Trainee on Borenius’ Employment team. During my traineeship, I got the unique opportunity to experience the daily work life of an employment lawyer while surrounded by supportive colleagues. After I completed my traineeship, Borenius offered me the chance to stay on as a Thesis Trainee, and I was excited to accept. I graduated in the summer of 2019 and returned immediately to Borenius to work as an Associate on the same, familiar Employment team.
Our recruitment process for lawyers
To apply for an open position, simply submit your application through our website. If you’d like to showcase your personality and provide additional insights about yourself, feel free to send us a video clip. Upon receiving your application, we will promptly send you a confirmation email containing further details about the recruitment timetable.
We will carefully review the applications we receive, following the order in which they are submitted. Therefore, it is recommended to submit your application as early as possible to ensure timely consideration. We will keep all applicants informed about the next steps in our recruitment process.
We conduct interviews with a carefully chosen group of applicants, which can take place either at our office or remotely. During the interview, our goal is to foster a mutual understanding and exchange relevant information and details about the position. This allows us to get to know each other better and determine if there is a good fit between you and the role.
We will invite you to a separate remote English language test if you qualify from the interview stage. The test assesses your oral and written competence, and it takes about one hour to complete.
Additionally, we ask you to participate in a personal assessment to further evaluate your suitability for the role. The personal assessment allows you to delve deep into your own abilities, strengths and development areas.
Our HR team and supervisors will be responsible for making the final recruitment decision, which marks the end of the recruitment process once your employment contract is signed. After the completion of the recruitment process, we offer all applicants the opportunity to feedback.

Jonna Yli-Äyhö
Senior Associate
I joined Borenius’ Tax team as an Associate shortly after I graduated in the spring of 2012. During my time at Borenius, I have advised clients on various demanding tax questions and participated in many interesting tax structuring and tax dispute projects. One of the highlights of my Borenius career is my secondment to Borenius’ New York office in 2019. In my current position as a Senior Associate on the Tax team, I have had the pleasure to take on more responsibility over the assignments I work on and to coach our younger tax lawyers.
Borenius Learning & Borenius Leadership Academy
We understand the concept of learning broadly and seek to challenge the traditional concept of training. The Borenius Learning programme not only aims at training legal skills but also includes other areas, such as self-leadership, career track planning, media skills and ethics workshops. The Borenius Leadership Academy provides a more in-depth look at these topics and is intended for our more senior lawyers.
